Banking App Phone Calls

I recieved a phone call from my bank's reesentative, they claimed to be from the same bank I rely on and further my transactions online. Let me tell you, it's not about the bank but about the potential that this incident held and almost made me wonder if it was legit or not. But yes, I have an account in Kotxk Mxhindrx. I use their No-MAB 811 service to keep a buffer between my bank and my online transactions. I have certain experience of dealing with people on telephonic conversations and reaching out through cold calls and it was this empathy that had me picking up and entertaining the caller for around 15 minutes. They would call you, inform you about your bank's promotion of certain Credit Card Offers with some list of benefits and without your question or concern raised, they will (pretend) to prove that they are legit repres of your banks and would even send an SMS from the banks, proving that they are the ones the bank employs them to inform customers like you, about their offerings. Thankfully, I said "Thank you so much for informing me, I will remember these things you told me and would ask to get the services active when I feel like, in the future" before hanging up on the person. It's only then I realised that this call was an example of a thin line between "being a scam victim" and "being a potential victim to the scam". I honestly don't know, even today, If that was a genuine call (even though the call was from the New, Bank issued and RBI compliant 1600 series of phone numbers) but the way the representative kept on persisting to prove their legitimacy.... it was something that made me feel like an irrelevant fact being served, only to ponder upon it later. I hope you stay safe and strong, as well as be aware of such practices which have been happening all around. None of us as immune to being a victim to a scam but we can only be aware of things that may or may not knock our door (or call our phones) someday.
