Beware of a Fake Bank Transfer Scam

A common trick is to send or show a fake payment/credit message and then say: “We accidentally transferred ₹10 lakh to you. Please send it back.” The victim may then transfer their own money to the scammer. Never trust an SMS or screenshot as proof of payment. Check the actual bank account/statement. Another possibility is that the SMS itself is genuine but the transaction is unexpected or unauthorized. So the important question is whether the ₹10,16,300 actually appears in the bank account.
