Got this SMS today. Is this a scam?
I received an SMS claiming that I got ₹1,850 via UPI, but something feels suspicious. Red Flags I noticed: Uses a bit.ly shortened link No bank name mentioned No UPI transaction ID No sender details Weird wording and formatting Asking me to “Check now” The message creates urgency and curiosity, which is a common phishing tactic. From what I know: Genuine UPI transfers appear directly in your bank/UPI app You do NOT need to click any link to receive money Banks usually send proper transaction details I think this may be an attempt to: steal UPI PIN/OTP redirect to a fake website install malware trick users into giving personal details My advice: 1.Don’t click the link 2.Check your bank app directly 3.Report and block the sender Has anyone else received similar messages recently?
