Important Tips To Avoid Scams 🥋🥊🆘🆘
Scams in India right now are mostly UPI, courier, job, and WhatsApp impersonation. Use this checklist: *The golden rule: Pause and verify* Scammers create urgency - "account blocked", "parcel held", "pay in 10 mins". Real banks, police, or companies never rush you on WhatsApp or threaten arrest over call. *5 quick checks before you click or pay:* - *Verify the source, not the display name:* Check the actual email / number. Call back on the official app or number from the company's website, not the number in the message. If it's your boss/family asking for money on WhatsApp, call them. - *Never share these:* UPI PIN, OTP, CVV, or screen-share / AnyDesk access. No real bank or delivery agent needs them. On UPI, you enter PIN to _send_ money, never to receive it. If you have to enter PIN to get money, it's a scam. - *Links and QR codes:* Don't scan QR to receive money. Hover / long-press links - if it's not the official domain (sbi.co.in, http://amazon.in) don't open. Don't download APK files sent on WhatsApp/Telegram. - *Payment traps:* Avoid "advance fee" jobs, work-from-home tasks where you pay first, or OLX buyers who send extra money and ask for refund. For courier scams - "pay Rs 25 customs to release parcel" is always fake. - *Impersonation calls:* No CBI, TRAI, or Delhi Police will video-call you for a "digital arrest". Hang up. For KYC or electricity bill threats, go directly to the official app. *If you already paid / clicked:* 1. Report immediately: call 1930 or report on http://cybercrime.gov.in 2. Inform your bank / freeze UPI in your banking app 3. Screenshot the chat, number, transaction ID Want me to tailor this for a specific type - UPI, Instagram shopping, job offers, or rental scams?
