Olx QR code scam
⚠️ OLX/UPI SCAM AWARENESS — BE CAREFUL WHEN SELLING ONLINE ⚠️ I recently encountered a scam attempt while selling something on OLX. The person first agreed to my quoted price and then tried to convince me that he had sent me ₹1 through a QR code. He then asked me to open GPay and scan a QR code he sent, claiming that I would receive the payment after entering my UPI PIN. This is the important part: A UPI PIN is used to send/authorise a payment, not to receive money. If someone asks you to scan a QR code and enter your UPI PIN to “receive” money, DO NOT DO IT. His apparent plan was to send me a QR code for the amount I had quoted and tell me, “I've sent you the payment, you just need to enter your PIN to receive it.” Doing that would actually authorise a payment from my account to him. He also wasn't willing to pay in cash and kept giving excuses. I'm posting this so other people selling items online can be aware of this type of scam. Never enter your UPI PIN to receive money. Always check your bank/GPay transaction history instead of trusting what someone tells you on a call. Stay safe and be careful when dealing with unknown buyers. 🙏 [Note:-I deleted my message with QR code and location, while scammer deleted messages with the QR code he was about to trap me with and a picture of so called proof of 1 rs lol]
