phishing scam
A phishing scam is a type of online fraud where scammers pretend to be a trusted organization (such as a bank, social media platform, or online service) to trick you into revealing sensitive information like passwords, credit card numbers, or one-time verification codes (OTPs). Example: Email or text message: "Your account has been locked due to suspicious activity. Click the link below to verify your identity and restore access." The link leads to a fake website that looks real. If you enter your login details, the scammer steals them. How to protect yourself: Don't click links in unexpected emails or messages. Check the sender's email address carefully. Visit the official website by typing its address yourself instead of using links in messages. Never share your password or OTP with anyone. Enable two-factor authentication (2FA) whenever possible.
