I received a call from a guy who said he was an employee of the Municipality of Cartado, from the Department of Real Estate, wanting to "help me" regarding the payment of land taxes and that they wanted to help me get exempted. After much insistence, he asked me to log into the bank application in order to receive an electronic signature "code." They had me fill out a survey that seemed very genuine, and they had information about my property such as the seat number, property number, etc.... The correct thing would have been that after the 5 minutes he said it would take, he would hang up the phone....Recibí una llamada de un tipo que decía ser empleado de la Municipalidad de Cartado, del Departamento de Bienes inmuebles, queriendo "ayudarme" con respecto al pago de impuestos de unterreni y que querían ayudarme para exonerarme. Después de mucho insistir me pidió que ingresara a la aplicación del Banco, con el fin de recibir un "codigo" de firma electrónica, me hicieron llenar una encuesta que parecía muy veraz y ellos contaban con información de mi propiedad como número de asiento, de propiedad, etc.... lo correcto debía ser que después de los 5 minutos que dijo que duraríamos suspendiera la llamada telefónica....

They tried with me, they had the property number from the RNP, they told me I had to update the fiscal value. I let them talk and talk, and in the end I said: I would like you to explain why you are calling me from a cell phone with a Nicaragua area code, and they hung up 😂. Always be suspicious of officials who are too efficient and especially those who call via WhatsApp = scam

Unfortunately, that's exactly how my mother was scammed last year. The municipality definitely never calls anyone; if you don't file a declaration, they just charge the fine, and that's it. It's each person's responsibility to keep track of the procedures. Unfortunately, you learn the hard way. Today they also called my father, but I immediately told him to block that number ***!!!!!

Municipalities do not call you, much less to process an exemption for a property, which is what they live off.
