Possibly a Romance Scam is it ?

A friend of mine was chatting to a female on Facebook he believed he was legitimately chatting to a famous tennis player Elena Andreyevna Rybakina and she asked him to download Telegram and chat to her on there instead.They have been in an online relationship this year shes told him shes in love with him and was meant to be sending a brief case with combination lock with padlock and my friend claims that her lawyer etc has got the code to open the briefcase but in order to get the code from he lawyer he has to regularly make deposits of Apple Gift Cards that he has to take photos of the gift cards and she sends the lawyer im guessing over Telegram as well Does this sound like a Romance Scam he won't listen anyone who tells him it's a scam and he has a disability.
