Rapido Customer Scam Attempt – AIMS Hospital, Dombivli

I am a part-time Rapido Captain. One night around 12:40 AM, I received a booking from AIMS Hospital, Dombivli. After reaching the pickup location, the customer called and said, "Wait for 5 minutes, my wife is coming." I said okay. After some time, he called again. He said he was trying to pay for medicines via QR Code but was getting some error. Then he said: "Send me your QR Code. I will send you ₹5,300. You pay ₹5,000 on the QR Code I give you and keep ₹300 for the Rapido booking." I was a bit suspicious because the Rapido booking amount was only ₹80. Still, thinking someone might really need help at the hospital, I shared my QR Code. At the same time, I opened my bank app waiting for the ₹5,300 credit. After a while, I received an SMS that ₹5,300 was credited. But there was no credit entry in the bank app. When I opened the SMS, I realized something shocking: the customer had sent a fake bank SMS from his own number. The customer called again and said, "The money has been transferred. Now pay ₹5,000 on the QR Code I sent and keep ₹300 yourself. Don't ask my wife for money." I said, "But the money hasn't come into my bank account." He said, "Sometimes the bank server takes time." I replied, "Okay, but I can't pay until I see the credit in my bank account." Then I said, "Anyway, my account balance is zero right now." Hearing this, he hung up and canceled the ride. This way, I avoided a potential QR Code payment scam. A request to all Rapido Captains and hardworking brothers: - Don't assume money is received just because you got an SMS. - Confirm money is credited only after seeing the credit entry in your bank app. - Don't transfer money to another QR Code based on any customer's request. - Even if the customer talks about hospital, medicine, or emergency situations, don't make hasty decisions. - If a customer first says they sent money and then asks you to pay another QR Code, be cautious. It is our responsibility to keep our hard-earned money safe. Stay alert, stay safe.
