The accused, Shrish Ranav, creates fake profiles on the BlaBlaCar app and several other platforms. On BlaBlaCar, he has maintained a profile with a 5-star rating to gain the trust of passengers. His usual modus operandi is to post fake ride offers, claiming to provide daily carpool services from Gurugram to Patna. After passengers contact him, he asks for an advance payment by giving various excuses. Once the pickup point and travel schedule are finalized, he blocks the victim's phone number and WhatsApp account, making himself unreachable. This appears to be his regular method of cheating, and it is likely that many people have already been defrauded in the same manner. I was also a victim of this fraud. He offered me a carpool ride from IFFCO Chowk, Gurugram, to Patna and requested an advance payment of ₹500, claiming that his mother was seriously ill and urgently needed money. Trusting his story, I transferred the amount. However, immediately after receiving the payment, he blocked my phone number and WhatsApp account and never provided the promised ride. I request that a thorough investigation be conducted into his activities across BlaBlaCar and other platforms, that other victims be identified, and that strict legal action be taken against him for cheating and online fraud.
