SMS claiming money redemption links to gambling site

Why do I keep receiving these kinds of messages? I repeatedly receive SMS messages claiming that I have received or can redeem a certain amount of money through a link, often using Bitly. When I check the link, it redirects to a gambling website. This is clearly a scam. Please be careful and do not click on suspicious links or trust such messages.
