Someone was already using my number on whatsapp

I have been using the number in question for more 10years, it was today I opened a WhatsApp account with this. first when I tried to login/signing some review request was sent to WhatsApp which they approved shortly. So when the part of setting name and pop came, there was the pfp of some women which is probably a fake... There were ~15 numbers in the Blocked numbers list, a few chats with people not in my contact. All of these seem to be pointing to this number was being used for a scam. I intend to use this regularly now, so should I take any precautions?
