spam message from Iran

I suddenly received a WhatsApp message from the number [PHONE] saying only, “Hello, how are you?” I do not know anyone from Iran and I have never communicated with this number before. I checked the number on Truecaller, but I could not find any information or identity associated with it. I also never respond to messages or calls from unknown international numbers. The message was unexpected, so I believe it may be spam or a potential scam and I am reporting it for investigation. WhatsApp itself recommends stopping communication with unknown suspicious contacts and using the block/report options when appropriate. faq.whatsapp.com
