🚨 WARNING TO EVERYONE USING TRUST WALLET — PLEASE READ THIS! I want to share my recent experience with a Trust Wallet incident involving about $89, because I believe other people using crypto wallets need to be extremely careful. I had funds in my Trust Wallet, and suddenly, about $89 was withdrawn from the wallet without my authorization. The strange part is that when we tried to understand exactly what happened, we could not clearly identify a normal wallet address that received the money in the way we expected. This raised a very serious question: How exactly did the funds leave the wallet? At this point, there are different possibilities. One possibility is that someone somehow got access to the wallet's seed/recovery phrase or private key. If someone gets your recovery phrase, they can effectively gain control of the wallet and move the funds without needing your permission. Another possibility is that the wallet was compromised through something connected to it — for example, a malicious approval, a dangerous DApp, phishing, malware, or another security issue. And because we could not immediately trace the destination in the way we expected, we cannot honestly say with certainty that the seed phrase was stolen, nor can we say with certainty that Trust Wallet's backend caused it. That distinction is very important. ⚠️ WE DON'T KNOW EXACTLY HOW IT HAPPENED. But what we do know is that the money disappeared without authorization. And that is why I am sharing this warning. 🔴 PLEASE PROTECT YOUR TRUST WALLET • NEVER share your 12/24-word recovery phrase with anyone. • Do not send your recovery phrase to anyone claiming to be Trust Wallet Support. • Do not screenshot your seed phrase. • Do not store your seed phrase in WhatsApp, Telegram, email, Google Drive, Notes, or other online/cloud locations. • Be extremely careful about connecting your wallet to unknown websites and DApps. • Do not approve transactions you don't understand. • Be careful with links sent through Telegram, WhatsApp, X, Facebook, Discord or random websites. • Keep your Trust Wallet application updated. • If you suspect that someone has obtained your recovery phrase, do not continue using that wallet as if it is safe. Create a new wallet with a completely new recovery phrase and move any remaining assets to the new wallet as quickly as possible. Trust Wallet itself states that your recovery phrase is the master key to your wallet and that if someone gains access to it, they can access your funds. Trust Wallet also recommends keeping the recovery phrase offline and never sharing it. ⚠️ THE BIG LESSON Don't wait until money disappears before taking wallet security seriously. Crypto wallets are different from normal bank accounts. Once an unauthorized blockchain transaction has been confirmed, it may not be possible to simply reverse it like a bank transfer. So please: Protect your recovery phrase. Watch what you sign. Be careful what you connect your wallet to. Verify every transaction. And don't trust anyone asking for your seed phrase. This post is not claiming that Trust Wallet itself stole the $89. It is simply sharing what happened to us, the uncertainty surrounding how the unauthorized withdrawal occurred, and a warning to other Trust Wallet users to take their wallet security seriously. Your recovery phrase is your wallet. Protect it like your money depends on it — because it does. 🔐
