OTP messages come automatically, and once my account was hacked, and it was asking my friends and family for payments.
How did all this happen?

This situation is the result of a classic WhatsApp Account Takeover Scam. How the Scam Works: • The Initial OTP: The scammer enters the user's phone number into WhatsApp to log in from a new device, causing WhatsApp to send a legitimate verification OTP (One-Time Password) via SMS to the original user's phone. • Social Engineering: The attacker tricks the user into revealing that code—often by using a previously compromised account belonging to a mutual contact, sending a message like: "I accidentally sent my verification code to your phone, can you forward it back to me?" • The Account Hijack: Once the user shares the code, the attacker enters it, instantly logging the real owner out and hijacking access to the WhatsApp account. • Financial Impersonation: The attacker poses as the user to message family and friends, fabricating an emergency to request urgent money transfers via digital payment apps. Immediate Action Steps to Recover and Secure the Account: • Re-register WhatsApp Immediately: Open WhatsApp on the original phone, enter the mobile number, and request a new OTP via SMS to log out the attacker's device. • Wait Out Any Lockouts: If the attacker enabled 2-Factor Authentication (2FA) or if too many OTP requests were made, WhatsApp may impose a mandatory wait time (often 7 to 12 hours) before allowing another verification code. • Alert Friends and Family: Warn contacts immediately via standard calls, SMS, or social media that the WhatsApp account was compromised and to ignore any financial or payment requests. • Enable Two-Step Verification (2FA): Once access is regained, go to Settings > Account > Two-Step Verification in WhatsApp and set up a personal 6-digit PIN to prevent future hijackings.

You should call and ask. My friend's brother got trapped like this too. He sent money without asking.🤦♀️

You are misleading people by posting useless things. You are not so foolish that you would give money to a stranger.....
