Answer with a Business
My mom gets calls on her phone unfortunately. I have her a landline because she's 91 years old and forgets about her cell phone. I control all their money so fortunately she can't give out any information that would help them. when I'm over there, I answer something like 'Joe's Pizza Parlor or, can I take your order' I use a Southern drawl and I will will repeat it two or three times and almost every time I get a hang up. if it's a recorded message I immediately hang up. so, someone might want to try answer it answering the phone with a fictitious business and make it sound convincing. Another one I have used is that someone has called in to an active undercover operation and I am adamant about needing their phone number and their name and I'm aggressive about it. I will always get hang-ups.

My father passed away last March, and my mother is in her eighties. They had the same landline number since 1976. Sha started keeping track. She averaged 100 spam calls A DAY. We are in Texas, and her best friend is in Virginia. Her best friend sent her the basic flip phone from Virginia. That was 3 monhs ago, and knock wood...no problem yet.
